@InnovativeHealing -- Can you explain why patients with Lyme or viral infections wouldn't benefit from D supplementation? Is it being confiscated by the pathogen? Does the pathogen make the D unabsorbable? How does the patient get enough D, then? Or do they never obtain satisfactory levels? Would sublingual vit D work better for those people?
Thank you, in advance. And thanks for the video; it was easy to understand for laymen.

@gekiryudojo By most standards levels of 229 are way too high; yet there is some evidence that some people benefit from having such high levels. I would advise monitoring this with your physician and also seeing where you actually feel best. How you feel is often the best measure of what your levels should be.

We use 4000 IU daily, so at 2000 you may not be increasing your level at all. I you were my client and you had vitamin D levels of 14, I would recommend 10,000 IU daily for 6-8 weeks and then recheck. I'd also advise spending time in the sun without burning without sunscreen.

How much is consider as over dosage for Vitamin D3? Overdo of anything could be harmful than benefit. I am taking vitamin D3 from many fish oil and multi vitamins, 1000 IU each. Thanks

@fabmd8 Sorry for the delay in responding to you. This isn't a place that I typiclaly keep track of. We know that there is absolutely NO toxicity from use of sunlamps or being in sunshine. Some people have gone gung ho with vitamin D supplements and eventually got too much. For most of us taking 2000-4000 IU daily will be safe, but I do like to have people check vitamin D levels to see what they are doing. We're looking for balance.
What standard of units are you using here? When I got my results 4 days ago, it said it was 19nmol/L which converts to about 7ng/ml... (we're in winter here still)

@jamesbomb0069
Normal in nmol/L is 50-140
Optimal is probably 115-128 nmol.
So you are extremely low in vitamin D.
I recommend taking 5000-6000 IU of vitamin D daily for 6-8 weeks and then retesting.
There is a small subset of people who have viral or Lyme disease issues who may not benefit from high doses like this.

Hey i dont have any health insurance and haven't seen a doctor in years, How can I check my own vitamin levels?
WestCoastIrk 2 years ago
There are ways you can check it yourself. You can purchase a kit from our office for $95. You can also order your own labs and pay for them through Quest or Lab Corp. You may also want to check out Life Extension for a kit, but you may have to be a member.
