From the heyday of Channel 5 in New York City, it's the one, the only, Chuck McCann, in the first of seven segments. Stay Tuned! Also: listen to a recent interview with Chuck at: http://tinyurl.com/2pmf6a
Anyone have the opening at wnew, riding a bike down the sidewalk? CHUCK , do a retro opening and closing from one of your shows, you have a ton of babyboomer fans out there,we all remember.
What was the name of the show that had the Johnny Seven clown? I'm almost sure I was on one of the shows when I was very young but my folks don't remember it.
OMIGOSH! I only lived in Norwalk, CT from 1962 till 1968, but Chuck, Sandy Becker, Soupy Sales, Morty Gunty, Paul Winchell ... I could go on forever. Remember "Johnny Seven?" He was a clown, can't remember. He'd sing "East Side, West Side, all around the town, the kids love Johnny Seven, he's our favorite TV Clown?" God, that was so long ago!
I was in the audience of one of his '66 shows (I was 8). Got to meet Paul Ashley & he showed me "Lester" up close. Later that evening my mom and I also ran into him about 2 blocks away from the WNEW studio and, as you said, he was a joy. It was freezing cold and he still stopped for a few minutes to chat.

I loved the silent writer bit. "Saturday Night" has never come up with a commercial parody this good.
