  • Their dance is powerful.

    The outfits are gorgeous.

    The movements are clean.

    Excellent!!

  • That's where you're wrong. "Laboured control of edges and movements" does not always characterize little spurts of snow, and if you watch all CDs throughout the 90s-2000s era, you'll notice several of the best CD skaters kick up snow, to varying degrees, especially when transitioning from one pattern to the next.

But I agree with these two scores'.

  • I agree with the commentators - technically it isn't correct in places, and the edges no where near as deep as they could be (eg V/M).

  • well, i think the point is that the female commentator said"tres bizzare"for D&S to be in front of V&M but than the male commentator said "c'est la dance". I think this explains everything.

  • Wow... I like this pair so much better in compulsories. So sharp and beautiful!

  • I think that speed is the least thing necessary in the pasoboble. It's the beautiful and sharp edges. If you look at V/M's paso without the music, to you it will look so fast and smooth that it looks more like a waltz without the music. Try it.

  • Everyone literally kicks snow, that's a given. I never said V&M has poor technique. I think there is good argument for either team to be in 1st. I do think that overall DomShabs' s skating is more controlled and invisible than V&M who are obviously masterful but still more workman-like.

  • Watch V/M's section during and right after the cross roll turn into the mohawk to notice just how in sync they are, rotating at the same time, and the fact that they continue to ride their edges during the length of the chasses in continuous motion. (Unlike other lower ranked couples who almost halted and didn't even finish off their extension).

Faulty technique like toe-pushing (ie.) is not the case in V/M. Their score was well earned.

I agreed with the results, D/S were the best.

  • I don't see the "jumping" some of the comments have mentioned. If anything, I find DomShabs to be technically and artistically masterful for their age. I totally think this is better skated than V&M, as I see smooth edges, speed, swift transitions without snow. Effortless skating. I think V&M had more spark and personality, but their skating, although great, still lacks the finesse of DomShabs as evidenced by tons of more labored control of edges and movements, very "snowy."
