Fred K. Manasse talks about his sculpture, "My Diaspora," and his personal history which inspired it.

Criticisms welcome.

Not my greatest work, but the video was plagued by issues form the start. First, the music never arrived. There had been a music piece written specifically to commemorate the sculpture, but I never once heard it. As the music was going to provide the timing, I didn't know where to begin with the editing. Next, the gallery space didn't turn out quite as we expected. There wasn't the room we wanted, nor the lighting, and while we expected blank white walls we instead got colors & textures. Omph! Then Mr. Manasse collapsed as we were taping! Yeah, he seemed to have recovered, and even claimed to be feeling well enough, but it just sort of sucked the wind out of the job at hand. And, oh, later it was determined that he had a heart attack and required bypass surgery...

Enough about my problems. Mr. Manasse is presently retired after a stellar career in electronics. If you Google him you'll no doubt find one or more textbooks on the subject of semiconductors which he contributed to. A bit ahead of his time, he and some partners began a solar energy company before finally giving up electronics for sculpting.
