This poor Deer was trapped on the ice on the Saint john river in Hartland,NB.I spotted it from the highway bridge and decided to go see if it was hurt, unfortunately it was. After calling the local Rangers, they told me to either kill it,or walk away and leave it for mother nature.I'm a Hunter and couldn,t do that. After 4 calls to authorities i finally got a Ranger agree to go take care of it since it was within sight of the public. This morning it was gone, nothing to show but a small pool of blood where they put her out of her misery.Life goes on!!!!At Least she wasn,t eatin by a coyote.

  • You know man, I've got to say, I've garnered a huge amount of respect for you. I'm a hunter as well and love the game and sport of hunting dear. But, at the same time, it's never a nice sight to see a deer injured like this. Even more so, I respect you because you stayed with the deer while trying to get help. True, animals aren't people, but the presence of an obviously non-threatening person can help in keeping them calm and comforting when their panicked and in pain. Well done sir, well done.

  • i dont think neither of his front legs were broken to be honest. He was very very very weakened.. he probly battles the ice all night.. because in the 2nd video you can see he stands up for a couple seconds,, his back leg once was an obvious fracture, but i still truly believe that this deer could have been saved.. Rest in peace poor deer... if at least it would have had a peacefull death...

  • man great set vids.....I hunt and butcher deer every year...I had to put one down this year with my knife because it had been it w/a car and the cop's don't come take care of things like that.....the hardest thing I have every hard to do was stick a 125 lbs. doe w/ a 4" tactical folder in the heart because she was snapping at me.....That deer my have been able to stand but it may have had other problems that couldn't be seen.....Brain Damage Defiantly her Fight or Flight response was gone.

  • This man IS IN FACT JESUS!!!!!

  • It was off the ice, in the snow bank, were her legs broken? why didn't she get up and leave?

  • Poor thing :(

  • Bless you for being such a kind man.

  • Probably tried running across the ice took a bad step. I saw this happen once before. only on an icy road. The deer started to run across the street changed her mind and tried to go back the other way, after it was to late.I found out later that its leg was broken in four places, and couldn't be fixed.Luckily it was during hunting season, I had my rifle and a tag so I didn't have to wait for the rangers To finally get off their asses. I took care of it then took it home and butchered it.

  • I agree with @geniva10 , the animal COULD have been saved. But it's mother nature, and this deer was just extremely lucky to be able to have you there. So much respect and admiration for you!

  • @geniva10 But spending the thousands of dollars to repair an animals legs, just so it could be rereleased, and then shot? :/
