Clutch noise issue. Happens when I slowly engage the clutch in first gear. It's done when feathered into gear just "putting" around...

Setup:
Clutchmasters Stg. III Assembly
Centerforce DFX Disc
Clutchmasters Aluminum Flywheel
T56 Transmission

  • Did you ever find the cause of the squeal? My CTS-V is doing this same thing in R,1st, and sometimes on downshifts. It feels like it's slipping when I try to "baby" it so it won't squeal.

  • @papasmurf324

No, I haven't found the cause. I have been told it's normal for a Stg.III clutch, because of the material used on the disc. But I still feel that there is another culprit. I'm kind of leaning towards pilot bearing...

  • Hmm, doesn't sound nice. Did the noise ever go away? Fixed?

  • @JohnnyGification

No... still there... At least until I'm able to do my next clutch swap. Which will make #6 or 7 I've lost count LOL

  • Any update? It's been a year and I found this video because my Mini is now doing the same thing...intermittently when going into 1 & R.

  • i have this same shit and can find no info on it.

  • what was the problum with it?

  • oh and another thing, stg3 clutch normally make that sound for the first 2-3 mins after engine is on.

  • I think the problem is bc you are releasing it slow.. i have stg3 clutch and flywheel and the guy that installed me told me to NEVER realease it to slow becuase can dmg the flywheel/drivetrain and even th clutch will burn cause the friction.

  • @SoulTKR Dude, I have a 2000 Dodge Viper that has the same transmission. It jumps out of reverse gear every time. What the hell could be wrong?

  • Why have you gone through so many clutches? Do you dump it a lot? Launching?

  • mine just started doing it too after 5000 miles. it's annoying the hell out of me. seems like it's the pilot or throw out from what i've been seeing online. i talked to the tranny shop and they said it seems like a clutch issue. i'm tempted to just replace everything in there, both bearings, pressure plate, and disc, but everybody says "i won't be able to be sure until i open it up"

  • got the same noise on my stage 3 clutch...... bugs da hell out of me!

  • its normal to make that noise, its cause the clutch is bitting harder

made the exact same noise on my car when i had a button clutch

when i changed it to a standard clutch noise gone =).
