Supporters of Bradley Manning, the US army private accused of turning over classified US documents to WikiLeaks, rallied outside the fort where he is appearing in a pre-trial hearing that is the first step to a court-martial. The rally was on Manning's 24th birthday. Duration: 00:51.
@A1R5N1P3R this to me is the lazy man's excuse to do nothing, the obedient coward's way out of dealing with a man-made mess. As you no doubt heard from others, the oath includes upholding the Constitution which allows for individual refusal to hide corruption and speak out. Don't use rules to protect the guilty. That's corruption too.

@xm377Moyocoyatzin-The point is, this guy ended up being our eyes and our ears. It is naive of the gov't to think they can shut down a man's morality and conscience entirely. There are also laws and a Constitution which offer the framework to do exactly what Manning did. It is tunnel vision to ignore those facts as well as the seriousness of the crimes that were revealed. This corruption is self destructing and we are all going to get hit by the shrapnel.

Obviously a lot of people think this man is a hero and that includes decorated war heros, U.S. Congressmen, and hundreds of thousands of people of all types all over the world. The kangaroo court proceedings did not permit a full legal defense and this was the only avenue open, according to the defense team. I realise a lot of people a

don't do the crime if you can't do the time...

@mrbriscoe2001 Our own laws are being broken by the law-makers. Bradley Manning should never have been in solitary confinement for 9 months, so he already suffered more than his share of any time due. I think the system owes him and all of us something for that. We can't let our own system abuse it's power. It is time to court martial the court.

@VJnumber1 soldiers have a right to use their conscience;yeah-but they're not given the option of doing that any way they see fit;don't do the Crime -if you can't do the time..even MLK said that the person committing Civil Disobedience had a responsibility to accept punishment..

A soldier's duty is to report war crimes when he sees them. To criticise Bradley Manning for reporting war crimes when the military system itself was a closed circuit of corruption is advocating collusion with that corruption. If you want to monday morning quarterback that he didn't do a good job to edit the material first, you don't understand the urgency of the crimes. Others did the editing. Soldiers have a right to use their conscience. The war ended. Lives were saved. The hero went to jail.

@xm377Moyocoyatzin Same.
We live in different times.
As much as people don't like it, there is a system in place, one he swore an oath to.
Be well.
