Address by Greens Upper House MP Ian Cohen outside the US Consulate in Martin Place:

We are seeing the British withdrawing, we are seeing other European nations withdraw, and we're going to see in the not too distant future - even if it takes an election and Howard to go, with his tail between his legs, forgotten by history - we are going to see those Australian troops out of ... Iraq and out of Afghanistan. I believe that this is a turning point today, and I just ask you, tomorrow, come along, eight o'clock in the morning, join us. I'll be there, I'll be speaking and I think that it's important that we keep coming out there, in the public, and saying "Dick Cheney, not appropriate. You are a war criminal, and John Howard, is a complicit war criminal, nothing less."

We saw, we saw the police acting, under orders, and getting pretty rough, up there at Town Hall today. I saw it, I was there, and I'll be making some complaints. But they are acting under orders.

We know they can change, and here they are, again, disciplined. Well we have to be equally as disciplined, as we turn out, time and time again now, to actually confront a really corrupt system. We're seeing it at a federal level, and practically we're seeing it at a state level.

So let's mobilise. We've got four weeks to a state election. We've got a few months now to a federal election. We've got to keep the discipline, strength and anger up on the streets. I say let's not be tempted by the police who might, um, might get us hot under the collar. Let's show them that we can do it in such a way -- if I have no doubt about the fact that we are going to win, we are going to get those troops home, and, as equally as important, the symbol of David Hicks: he has to come home. It's not appropriate. What Australian citizen deserves five years of intense incarceration, isolation, mental torture, and not be charged? Totally, and completely, inappropriate.

So I say it, and I say it again, that needs strength, yes a degree of anger, but discipline, to get what we want to get and -- so when we leave the, this evening, very soon, let's walk off, with friends, in a disciplined manner. Look after each other. Leave, I would suggest - do what you like - but I would suggest, leave at approximately the same time, walk off with friends so that you've got protection and you've got witness, because it's these situations, where we've had an immense victory, it tends to get a little out of hand at the end, so... See you tomorrow morning, eight o'clock. I look forward to being there.

Cheney, for this event, was in Sydney; America has the most effect on our foreign policy - our government kisses it's ass; The U.S is responsible for more War Crime, and creating more poverty then any of these nations you mention - whether through blocking trade, isolating them, or bombing the crap out of them.
