@chaosier Dude, are you freaken crazy, hip hip and all that other rap is on fire right now. Well it was couple years ago. I don't know about this year. Well listen to this song : DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL. This will cheer you up.
I don't really get you r comment about genres of music deteriorating after it becomes mainstream.

wasnt this guy in The Last Successor?? ive only heard one song from that band and it kicks ass......
-
Must say, that is one melodious shredding :) and i start right now, trying your other songs....if i can find :(

Sorta strange, though, to hear this from him when I got introduced to his music through the acoustic version of Goodbye.Paradise. Guy's got a damn large of musical range, 'cause that song's absolutely nothing like this one.
Say goodbye to the sunshine...
Say goodnight to the paradise...
Yeah, nothing like this.

Xia Yan is awesome... And now he's a singer, too! I hope he makes it big, so that there's more to cover of the Chinese music industry than just generic pop.
(And yes, he is cute. ^^;)

That chinese guy looks so pathetic!
TO silentrage:
IF you say that the chinese music scene is shitty, well it is but I assume that you live in one of the 5-6 English speaking countries. Let's say for example America, that country is full of shit music as well, let's see gangster rap and hip-hop all the way. Does that show any skill? ANy passion in the music?
I don't really think so. Do you know why? I guess not. It's business, every genre of music that is not mainstream deteriorates after it becomes mainstream..merchandise/money

I've lived in Canada and China.
I have to agree with you, there's bullshit music everywhere.
Mass manufactured, profit-oriented, tasteless, un-interesting, sometimes emo, bullshit music.
But a lot of popular music in China is worse, if you can believe that, because they're the above mentioned music regurgitated.
So it's even LESS ORIGINAL than the Bullshit music you have in the US!!!
Fcking mind boggling is that that is.

is he using traditional chinese scales?
awsome guitarest

It's the pentatonic scale, and yes, every single traditional chinese song uses the damn scale, absolutely no exceptions there.
