Finally! The set is complete! All 20 Visions Fugitives are now recorded.

In this last set of three, Prokofiev takes us through a journey from the highest note to the lowest note on the piano. Of the 20, these are probably the most "out there".

#18) Con una dolce lentezza - a lopsided waltz complete with strange grace notes and a never-ending rising eighth-note motif.

#19) Presto agitatissimo e molto accentuato - this is supposed to depict the excitement of the crowd during the Russian Revolution. It's crazy!

#20) Lento - a quiet ending to the whole set. The descending chords at the end are hypnotic - settling on a chord that doesn't sound like the end. But Prokofiev changes the notes around the chord, and it becomes the end. Awesome!

Thanks for listening. Don't forget to rate! Also, check out my Visions playlist to hear my own "Visions Regained" followed by all 20 Visions Fugitives.

  • well, it is marked presto agitatissimo, as you've mentioned yourself; I'm sure you'll find it to make more 'sense' at a higher speed

  • Okay - I'll see what I can do. It looks like it'll take a couple of weeks...

  • while I appreciate your slower pieces, hopefully you'll have time one day to rerecord ones like 19 at a faster clip

  • Hmmm - it goes faster? I'll have to give that a try!

  • i believe 20 should be played a TEENY bit slower. only a little bit. otherwise 4 stars

  • I know its very difficult to read music and play faster simultaneously. I do agree to try to play and practice not only 19, but 14 and 15 as well. You can tell the composer natural sarcasm in these pieces.

This was just my point of view helping from one pianist to another. Overall I say bravissimo for messing with a very "iron-fist" composer. Be checking you out more in the future!
