You are correct, if he was trying to show how there were originaly used. but as the title says, he is testing its durability when swinging it like a crazyman on wood.

Great vid. I have one of the SGC's and it's definitely a solid cutter. Much less "delicate" feeling than any Katanas I've had the pleasure to handle.

Definitely suitable for "Western" sized people.
