Turbine powered RC planes from the first jet meeting of the 2011/2012 flying season at the SWMAC in Tokoroa New Zealand.

A very strong crosswind, threatening clouds and cold temperatures meant that not a lot of flying was done but those who did take to the skies did get more than their fair share of adrenaline -- as you'll see from the landings.

More video coming from this meeting with plenty of closeups of some of those models featured here.

  • Bruce, love your videos. But where is the PT 3 of your Cox Biplane Build? I can't find it. I built one up to the point where pt 2 ended. Need part 3, how to install wings & find center of gravity. Others wrote that they would like part 3 also. See your Pt. 2 "of 3" video posted 7-28-11. THANKS. Nut4rc.air

  • @hope4rc Awww... it'll take me another three weeks to get the Cox video done because now I have to go through and remove all these repetitive messages on my videos ;-)

  • Should be done by next week. Need to revideo a bit at the end which came out really bad due to my camera's wandering white-balance.

  • how come they dont have afterburn on the turbine jets, all the jet vids and nobody has done one..........why????

come on Xjet sort it out and show a real rc turbine jet.......if possible?

    cheers wayne

  • @wayne4622 Afterburners use a *lot* of fuel so they're not very practical in RC models. However, I have been thinking.... watch this space ;-)

  • Bruce do the jet fliers not bother to turn up at the SWMAC over the middle of winter?

If so is there some reason?

  • @ChickenHawk110 Yeah, the weather is usually too unpredictable and the way our field is sited, we get sunstrike (because we face North-East) in the winter until about 2pm -- which allows for only about 2 hours of actual flying if you want to be safe with a fast jet-powered model.

  • @xjet there is an RC turbine out there with a working afterburner. Look up "Skypipe X80NB".

  • Can someone please tell me, The jolly rogers Eurosport doing the high speed passes, does this have the full intake ducts fitted ? Large holes cut in the back to stop the airframe pressurising ? Thanks Lee

  • Great video thumbs up ..Tim

  • @xjet

    im looking forward to it

    cheers

    wayne

  • Bruce, Thanks for responding. I'd be happy to remove the repeated question, if I knew how. Hope your wife is doing better. Sorry to hear about her serious injury. I am constantly amazed at how enthusiastic you all are at your field there in New Zealand.

Above all, enjoy your wit & humor. Cheers. hope4rc.
