The Highland dance competitions are keenly contested each year at Halkirk Highland Games - the largest games in the north of Scotland. Jigs are also part of the dance competition scene at these events and entrants come from all over Scotland and abroad to compete against locals. Most entrants take part in several competitions - a range of Highland dances as well as jigs and Sailors Hornpipe. Appropriate costumes are worn for each of the dances with Highland dress, kilts etc being predominant.

  • It may not be your imagination as there is a clay pigeon shooting competition ongoing all afternoon behind behind the big shed you can see. The games are very busy with shooting and piping competitions as well as dancing and all the usual sports events.

  • Why does watching women jig make me horny

  • Is it my imagination or did someone try to shoot them at 0.39?

  • The girl in greens jig definetly is an eye cathcher.

  • That was SO impressive! Amazing amount of energy both dancers displayed in this dance! (Quite different in style to the North American style, which lacks the "enthusiasm" or something I can't quite pinpoint). Well done!

  • Wow, looks even more energetic / tiring than Irish dancing, and that's bad enough! lol, I wouldn't quit ID unless I broke my legs ... I just like moaning about it sometimes.

  • Nice on both counts...I appreciate the amount of work put into both jigs :)

  • Love watching this jig..........Irene is.completely entertaining....amazing well done!!

  • I always loved the Jig - Irene does the best one I have ever seen!!! WOW!!! Every detail is stressed, and the last step - brilliant of course.

  • What a great piece, although I´m a little sorry for the red girl, it must be hard to compete aside and still look good, eVen if you are !
