Raygun Gothic Rocketship Launch (from the Rocketeers), Burning Man, September 4, 2009

The RAYGUN GOTHIC ROCKETSHIP was built in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2009. Yes, that's our Rocketship: a lot of dedicated women and men, collaborating and working for a long time. Many thanks and kudos. This film is of the September 4, 2009 launch at Burning Man 2009, Evolution. It includes the Victory Siren announcing the launch, announcements from Mission Control, the rocket fuel delivery, full launch sequence, the immolation of our astronaut Gus Gristle and a lot of happy rocketeers.

The RGR is a 40' tall steel and aluminum rocketship connected via a gangway to a gantry tower with a circular lighted perimeter. Participants can interactively explore the rocketship's three interior chambers (above the UIRA high voltage plasma Engine Room, there is access to the Bio Lab (with alien specimens)). A ladder goes up to the Crew Quarters and a second ladder leads to the Captain's Chamber, with rotating/ reclining chair, rocketship controls and an escape hatch.
