So wish they would go back to this livery.

This is great footage taken by your father... what a thrill this must have been for you! Looks like the pilot had to abort the landing. I've also been fascinated with airships since I was very young.
In 1976 when I was 10, me and my friend actually communicated with the Goodyear blimp with one of my Star Trek communicator walkie talkies (anyone remember those?). The pilot was super cool and he talked to us for about 10 minutes. That was one of the most memorbable days of my childhood!

I too was fascinated with the Good Year blimp. I can remember at first being scared of it as a kid but once I got to see up close at the airport in Dallas I was hooked. The America was the one around and used to be based in Spring, Tx outside of Houston. The engines always gave it away when it was flying over. These videos are great.

My father flew this blimp, it was taken the year I was born. He also flew the enterprise and stars and stripes. He died 6 years ago. Thank you for bringing him back to me.

I used to live about 3-4 miles south-west of the Carson, Ca base when I was a youngster. Awesome video.

I sure miss the older Goodyear ships. The first I ever saw was the Mayflower---the smallest of the four ship fleet (Europe, Columbia, America and Mayflower) way back when.

Nice video! My fascination with aviation started with blimps too -- though I was born in '85, I remember being at a launch of a goodyear blimp at the goodyear airfield here in AZ. The nice folks of that company even gave me a large inflatable model of the blimp of that design/paint scheme.
This is amazing quality for it to be from 1984...your dad must have had a high quality video camera. Thanks for posting reminds me of when I was 8 years old.

I've been obsessed with airships since I was also 2 years old. Goodyear used to be based here in Miami. At that time it was the Mayflower (N1A). I got to ride on the Stars & Stripes (N3A) twice, back in 1997. I guess those were the two peaks of this obsession.
