I went to crater lake a few times as a kid back around 1967,WE lived in klamath Falls oregon,what an awe inspiring place,I still think of crater lake to this day.

Isn't it amazing how the crap we deal with in the human environment creates angst etc. Isn't it amazing how the beauty and solitude of nature can scrub the crap off and generate a perspective of just how magnificent the physical world is and just how damn small and fleeting we humans are. It is interesting to note that all your problems on the trip are cultural of technological - so let the natural world overshadow those problems and keep them in check. Carpe diem.
