Skyrim Make an NPC wear any gear

Hello guys this short video will demonstrate how to add any clothing or weapons to an NPC that is not a follower

1.Target NPC type showinventory
2.Next find what you want to remove and type
removeitem id# 1
3.Now find what you want by using help in the console I used
necromancer robes hooded so I typed "help necromancer 4" in the console
to find its id#
"use page up on your keyboard to scroll up"
4.Now click on them and type additem id# 1
5.Then type equipitem id# 1
make sure you put 1 at the end of the command line
this way they will wear the item(s) even when you fast travel
or leave the area

don't listen to sneaksmasher, they will not wear any clothes you put in their pockets...

This doesn't appear to work for my housecarl. When I leave and come back, she's back in her armor. Boo! hahahaha :)

this is for people who use xbox or ps3. get the pickpocket perk that allows you to steal equipped stuff. steal the clothes and put the clothes you want them to wear in their inventory. it could still be that theyll stay naked. its risky since you could always get caught but this is how you can do it.
