THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, fellow delegates, ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to address you for the first time as the 44th President of the United States. (Applause.) I come before you humbled by the responsibility that the American people have placed upon me, mindful of the enormous challenges of our moment in history, and determined to act boldly and collectively on behalf of justice and prosperity at home and abroad.

I have been in office for just nine months -- though some days it seems a lot longer. I am well aware of the expectations that accompany my presidency around the world. These expectations are not about me. Rather, they are rooted, I believe, in a discontent with a status quo that has allowed us to be increasingly defined by our differences, and outpaced by our problems. But they are also rooted in hope -- the hope that real change is possible, and the hope that America will be a leader in bringing about such change.

I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism and distrust. Part of this was due to misperceptions and misinformation about my country. Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America has acted unilaterally, without regard for the interests of others. And this has fed an almost reflexive anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for collective inaction.

Now, like all of you, my responsibility is to act in the interest of my nation and my people, and I will never apologize for defending those interests. But it is my deeply held belief that in the year 2009 -- more than at any point in human history -- the interests of nations and peoples are shared. The religious convictions that we hold in our hearts can forge new bonds among people, or they can tear us apart. The technology we harness can light the path to peace, or forever darken it. The energy we use can sustain our planet, or destroy it. ...

  • I only wish you were correct.....but UFO coverup and aliens are horse shit my friend

  • how would you expect to attain a one world government? realistically this can only be done by brute force because no nation will step back and let america take over everything. the only way for peace to possibly occur is if each individual country and state cooporates with one another willingly and unerringly.

  • fuck the United Nations.

    You will not govern me.

  • so all the other presidents who have been accused before him didn't have light skin?

  • and we can all play the blame game and point out which nations did what to derail current issues but that won't do anything but tear the world apart even more so.

  • @Axlaiden I have no problem with it, actually i hope there would be a one world governamnt but then again it wouldnt ever work, theres just to many differant cultures and to many differant ways of thinking and to much hate among us to unify the human race. Maby one day we can all grow upand we will be unified, but until then i dont see it happening not even in the next 200 years, maby a Huge struggle will come up but until then the world has no reason to come together into one.

  • @SuperGinger94 obama does have light skin. he is related to bush and cheney. so yea he is involved in making a new world order

  • @Axlaiden no if there is a one world government it will be a communist utopia for the elite and a society that regulates every aspect of your life if you are the average citizen

  • Whats wrong with a one world government? Wouldn't that mean global peace? Wouldn't this mean moving forward? What does "United Nations" mean? People, you can't be so blind. Everyone always sees the conspiracy behind it, there's really no hiding it. But almost everyone sees the dark side of it. What about the benefits of it? No wars other than getting annoyed with your neighbour sometimes. Think positive, what choice do have if it does happen? What real choice have you had?

  • You know what's funny?

I bet you a million dollars that

if Obama had light skin you all wouldn't be saying he's the antichrist.

You also wouldn't be thinking that he's involved in new world order.

  • Listen to how many times he says "but" Remember that everything said before the "but " is not what is being said. Only after the "but"
