Man, I remember enjoying this game so much back when it came out I was doing speed runs on here. I don't remember my fastest times, but damn that was fun! :-)

My memory failed me, it seems you can carry more than one.
Also, Duke, it would be a good investment to snag a few Amulets when you have some spare cash. They halt you from dealing damage, but you cannot be hurt by enemies while one is active- one would have been great for getting through this spot where you lost your elixer. Very handy for the final bosses too.

And you can carry more than one elixyr.

Too bad they're 1,500 each. Upon playing the Japanese version, I found out they were 100 a piece!
I think in the PC-Engine(TurboGrafix-16?), Lover's Peak had the ladder. Can't recall clearly, as the caves there were more maze-y.
