My brother, Scott, has been married to his wife, Nikki, for 20 years. They have 2 children, Nick (15) and Megan(10). My sister-in-law, Nikki, met an
11 year old girl while on a missions trip to China a few years ago. She
went to China to serve children in an orphanage. Nikki's life was changed
forever. She came home to discuss with my brother about adopting Hope.
Hope was abandoned at the age of 2 after brain surgery. Her parents could not afford the medical costs. The doctors removed a tumor and damaged the pituitary glands. Hope looks like she is a 7 year old. She is the bravest person I know.
In april of 2010, she had another surgery due to headaches. The surgery left her blind and back to the orphanage. The adoption agency asked my brother if he was still interested in pursuing the adoption and taking on the challenge of a blind girl. My brother was more excited about the opportunity. He knows that God will not give him more than what he can handle.
In November of 2010, during Thanksgiving, the adoption process was complete and scott and nikki left for 2 weeks to go to China without Megan and Nick to bring Hope to America. I met Hope at the Atlanta airport and I was truly amazed. She is learning the english language and is a quick wit.
Hope is an incredible child. She has learned to speak English as well as braille. She has been in the US for 1 year and is going to school and has not met a stranger. Glad she is part of our family.
