No doubt. Jimmy Page was deeply into the occult and black magic. Read the book " Hammer of the Gods" and it said that Page, Plant, and Bonham did a satanic ritual where they sold there soul to satan in exchange for riches and fame.

Page was heavily influenced by Aleister Crowley ( occultist), and in Crowley's teaching it is said to be able to talk backwards and thats exactly whats in this song you can't deny the satanic messages you hear when you listen to it. Zeppelin r amazing anyway

i'm a little late on this reply, but yea man, those lyrics are somthin else....

whatever the meaning, whoever wrote those lyrics (and the music for that matter) seems WAY too poetic to be pinned down by mainstream religion.

anyways, the question.....can any of the lyrics be linked to any satanic writings or teachings? or are the just the product of a creative mind?

also, what makes you believe page was a satanist?

@mcampoli111 The only thing wrong about your statement is that Page didnt need to sell his soul to Satan because was already rich and famous. Before Zeppelin he was one of the most highly regarded and famous studio guitarists in England and not to mention he found mainstream success with the Yardbirds. The best bands and musicians, there is always someone who brings up Satan, going back all the way to R Johnson. Its too bad people always try and focus on the negatives.

@understood123 I think you're thinking of viper. Piper could also be the pagan god Pan, who Christians would see as the devil. Goat legs and a man's body with horns playing a woodwind instrument. Everything not of Christianity, Judaism, or Islam is the devil in the eyes of those religions.
