Your personal rant is limited by your limited knowledge and necessities. You have no idea of the power behind KDE and many of the features you rant about are there, you just don't know where they are because you haven't even tried looking. Sorry, but this is the way it is.

Btw, Gnome is fully open ^^ -- you're a joke.

dude u are a newb sure kde 4 is getting better and 3.5 was awesome but its not as good as gnome. Even Linus Torvalds switched to gnome.

And yeah gnome is open i can edit the source code if i want to its called open source for a reason

KDE 4 also resembles the Windows 7 desktop, that doesn't mean it's competing with it.

I wonder if the distro you tried was Kubuntu. If it was the it may not be that KDE is so bad but that the entire OS of all of the *buntu family are based on unfinished work.

Sorry but I still think that the motifs you used in your rant video are unfounded and very newbish. ;)

PS - It doesn't matter to me what Linus Torvalds uses although it is interesting to know facts like that for yourself. You can be sure that Linus is not using Gnome for the same reasons you might be.

really? I have KDE along with gnome on this Ubuntu box and I think it's great. I think Doplhin is very beautiful. Much better looking than Nautilus. I'm using gnome right now but I might switch when KDE 4.2 comes out. You should check some videos of KDE 4.2. It's sweet.

Im sorry but KDE is ugly as sin. Honestly square icons in the taskbars. I just can't stand to look at it. Gnome all the way or Xfce or Fluxbox or anything else that isn't KDE.

I preferred KDE to GNOME before they "upgraded" from the 3.5 series. 4.1 doesn't have anywhere near the combustibility and options as 3.5 did. It seems like they rushed to get it out the door. So I'm going to re-load my computer (duel booting Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.10) sometime next week and I'm not going to be using Kubuntu for that reason.
