In this superb Peruvian animation, John John arrives as a lost egg that gets adopted by a family of Condors. After he's hatched, his troubles begin: wings too small to fly, a body much larger than those of his brothers. Who is he really? The ultimate geek, he is subject to ridicule but also to curious affection from companion creatures in the jungle. Will these loyalties matter? As with the best coming-of-age stories, John John's future is much bigger than anyone around him could imagine. Yet fierce personal trials await, forcing him to make stark moral choices. The detail in this animation rivals some of the best you'll see from Pixar Studios - it is lush and delightful to watch. The story reaches across all generations, bringing humor, suspense, riveting action and sober questions about personal loyalty front and center. Ultimately, how much do our best abilities matter?
