  • So it is something that requires a USB connected receiver, rather than being natively supported by the Premier?

  • @hemojr Yeah, most wireless keyboards that are not Bluetooth come with little USB adapters. So most USB keyboards, wireless or not, will work.

  • What kind of wireless is the keyboard? infrared, bluetooth or what?

  • @hemojr It's the Microsoft Arc wireless keyboard. Believe it's RF.

  • This matches with the advice that I received from Virgin Media in UK - any *wireless* keyboard works they said. I said what? Don't you mean wired? Nope. Wireless. Deffo.

I'm yet to test but from this thread looks like it's a goer :-)

  • it looks like it works faster with the wireless keyboard

  • I had a USB keyboard right by it and plugged it in my TiVo Premiere and it works. I guess any USB keyboard will work with it.

  • @jasonhdvideoman Really? The only way Google TV takes over Tivo is if Google buys Tivo. Can Google TV record and store 1080i shows from Discovery? A&E? Nat Geo? Science Channel? CNN? Can it put out 5.1 surround sound? Until that happens (and it won't) Tivo is the best all-in-one hub of entertainment in the living room. Also TIvo is far better than those cable company boxes.

Google TV is nothing more than a simplified way of searching and playing online videos without a actual computer.

  • @LordOrwell2 ...and Google TV isn't even a real full-function DVR with external video storage so it can't be the center of home entertainment in the living room.

  • @jasonhdvideoman i don't know why. Tivo already has all the features of google tv.

  • @davezatz some bluetooth ones do as well. My bluetooth logitech keyboard works fine with the tivo.

  • @phreakincool I was so disappointed with the premiere. I decided to stick with it because it saves me like 25 bucks a month with comcast. The HD menus have improved a little since day 1. I know the 2nd core is not enabled yet and there is no caching. I have been reading the tivo forums (which I found just by googling "tivo forum") and the latest update seems to have helped more. I think when tivo finally gets the right software in these machines, they will function as intended.

  • @bowtie728 I was googling for "slow youtube tivo premiere" and found this thread. Anyway, I have the TiVo Premiere XL 150 and Im finding the HD menus tend to be a bit laggy. At first, I thought it was just the Youtube menus that were slow, but now it seems like all the HD menus are slow. I'm really thinking about returning the TiVo because of this.

  • they got google tv is going to take over tivo
