According to Olson (1964) the power of the interest group depends on the potential size of the group membership, and not on the strenght of the beliave in the cause of IG activity or "griavances" - that argument is often used by pluralists in the mainstream to give an illusion of the political system to be fair and equal. The reality is that the US government literally depends on the US economic performance, and therefore tends to favour the agenda of a powerful military-industrial complex.

These group discussions are very interesting and help stimulate critical thinking in political science students. It's too bad mypoliscilab videos are now just a series of interviews with the same college professor week after week. With all due respect to Professor Gaffaney, who seems to be a very intelligent and informed educator, it would be nice to get a more diverse range of perspectives on various political issues. This type of format does just that.

Interest group are at the core of the corruption on the political system. The group with the highest dollar count will be heard and prevail.
this video was really informative and helpfull but i feel that nra was not such a great source of example because sure its one of the examples of a powerfull interest groups but i feel because of the discussing of how one the interest groups work the viewer was not able to hear more about the grass rooting and lobbying tactics that interest groups employ to get their goals accomplished. That asside i really enjoyed the disccusion
