Video project by Stan Chung April 2010--UBC Okanagan IGS class, Kelowna BC, Canada.
This video was recorded on an iPhone. Both song and video were recorded as improvisations which is the focus of my research.
The song is an improvisation which is why some the lyrics work better than others. You can hear someone in the kitchen if you listen closely.
The lyric "let's take the gift and open it up" is interesting because I hadn't planned on singing that! Sometimes the best stuff is improvised.
The iPhone 3GS video was done in one long take with no editing. The decision to turn at the end, for example, was an improvisation. The song was ending, and I had to do something.
Can you hear the turn signal over the song? I like that part. I hope you like the juxtaposition between the song and the street imagery of the Pandosy area of Kelowna.
This is all part of my creative research into improvisation for my doctoral studies in performance at UBC Okanagan.
Thank you for experiencing it!
