yes, but you can turn it off to gain maneuverability (which most people do.)

No, this is the lod Hanger 9 ARF that was designed for a glow engine. They are not made any more. This one is 109" wing span. A LOT larger and very different than the HobbyZone.

The struts were optional in this version of the plane - not required for structural support. We were in a hurry to get it in the air so we didnt put them on.
