It doesn't surprise me a female with asperger's would get diagnosed with BPD. Probably the meltdowns you experienced, the therapist thought were due to BPD. I had the same issues with bipolar disorder, I was misdiagnosed as bipolar as my interests seemed to be hypomania to my psychiatrist.

I SO RELATE!! I'm recovering from BPD - have made beautiful progress - only to be slapped with the same AS label. I'm devastated to learn that my social ineptitude won't end with the BP's resolution. So exhausting..

Many females with Aspergers are misdiagnosed with personality disorders by low experience, low educated healthcare providers. BPD is a trauma/psychological injury illness. I have complex PTSD and Aspergers, yet they tried to say I had several different PDs depending on the practitioner. In Alaska DX is often done by social workers. I call them the social worker mafia. They harm a lot of people who don't know they are clueless. As a nurse a know BPD is used as a label quite often,

How I wish :) I did have BPD. I still have AS. They are not the same at all. To some it may appear as though they are the same, but they aren't. Some people have both, some don't. There is no doubt that I had BPD.

You can't GET asperger...ur BORN with it and u have it all ur life..there is no cure for it..so if u have u have had it all ur life

I understand that. It's not that I "got" it when I was 40 - that was simpy when I found out I had it - and as you say - I have had it all my life - something that became obvious but that I hadn't known before.

how closely connected is bpd and as? i have bpd diagnosed and cant seem to bust out my ruteins and fit alot of the criteria for as. just wondering of u know! can u make a video about that or get back to me? thanks!

I am not sure how closely connected they are. I think that they co-occur but not because they are directly related to each other just because some people do have both. I recovered from BPD - AS, you learn to live with as best you can.
