  • Um, I hope someone who can helps reads this. I have been looking for good Jazz lessons on youtube and have not really found any that are taught half as well as she can teach. Is there more lessons from her? Where can I find her music. She is the first female teacher on youtube to really impress me.

  • @safenders There's a lot more lessons from here for JamPlay.com members.

  • what amp are you using? your guitar sounds so warm :)

  • @romekdo77 It was actually a Line 6 Spyder Mark 2. I know, not necessarily a Jazz or Blues amp but this thing does have variety :D

  • @hammill444 there are a vast amount of jazz lessons from her (and a few other teachers) on jamplay, and they have tabs for everything. I used to be a member of that site but I got what I needed (I got good!) and I stopped my subscription. I highly recommend the site though. I there's a 7 day free trial.

  • @hammill444

I hear you! Drop me a PM or I will drop one to you. I can try to give a few tips on how to go about all this. Thing about jazz is, even the 'easy jazz' is not too easy. Most people starts with the basic folk chords... 1 4 5 progression etc.... From there it is a bit of a leap when you start to intro 7s 9s 11s #s and b's etc.

I think it can make sense to most, but the order of how info is presented is crucial. Any 'missed' steps leads to great confusion. Shapes are the key

  • @gtrrobster Yes, I tried that, but could not quite find specific ones to correspond to both the 7th's and 9th's--- and all the alternate chords up the neck-- presented in this lesson. I only stopped by because someone else stated this was a simple, good lesson for beginners, and I was hoping to find someone to de mystify jazz chords. But I guess there is, it would seem, a level well below beginner. Back to the three chord garage.

  • @hammill444

To be honest, you need to do a little homework on your own. Easy to google 'jazz chord formations'... Do that, be prepared with the foundations, and use this great info to help you know how to use that information. This is not a lesson for total beginners in jazz.

    Meant with respect!

    Rob

  • Lots of very helpful instruction packed into one video, well done!

  • You take information when you can get it,so stop your bitchn'. I thank her for her abundance of knowledge shes givin' for free, when everyone else wants to prophet. She's gifted.

  • Very good. Simple to understood. Great musician, and she had a sweet and generous way to expose your lesson.

  • @md1053 Well, I guess in a way, that's right: I was very interested in this lesson. But what is frustrating is to have to go find another lesson somewhere else that serves to explain the chords-- and how to actually play them---presented in this lesson. Yes, of course they are the same chords, in different positions; what I wanted to know is how to form the different chords presented--- in particular the jazz barre chords being presented. So yes, I did indeed want to have a lesson in jazz.

  • @hammill444 all same chords, in different positions, dominant or called with their name when altered with 9th etc.. your disappointment may come from the fact that' you want to have a lesson in jazz and you don't know how to build a basic 7th chord

  • Well, for a lesson in jazz--- it is so frustrating to not have the teacher explain how to form the actual jazz chords-- via the fret and string positions-- within the lesson. Yes, I can see her form the chords--- but it's not nearly enough. Like I said: frustrating, and ultimately unhelpful.
