@ermes94 Actually they are different thing's but the roots are the same, this is why in fundemental rituals, a ifa practitioner can help a santero but once it gets more complicated the rituals become diffrent as the religions branch off into different directions.

@bassreeves1965 Just because there is a linguistic commonality doesn't make it anything more than that. While we Yoruba people are desended from a people in Sudan (upper egypt at the time) As well our language is from a congolese family of speech, so to say that the Yoruba word for mother (being Yeye) is the same for the Wu Chinese word for mother (being Yeye) means nothing. Our belief is a matter of understanding the spiritual world and using that to be our way to better our lives.

Po' man repent while you can.
I would agree...if you could remove your narrow parsing that attempts to negate overall thoughtful Truths in an attempt to support your own truths, it would not be necessary to remove yourself from this room :-))

Of course. The incursion and pernicious influence of the Moslem and Christian influence has changed some of the patterns everywhere. The Ifa Foundation has spent 35 years stripping away those adaptations, be they in the form of Santeria/Lucumi or certain practices in certain parts of Africa. We have searched for original truths that seamlessly integrate with the benevolent, inclusive worldview of Ifa. It is that we practice and that we teach.i

My teachig has extended to may individuals. In African Ifa my original mentor was the late Afolabi Epega, a fifth generation African Babalawo whose grandfather, the Patriarch Epega was Bascombs' primary informant...and whose personal Igba is with the Ifa Foundation.
