FlightAware web site company covers (on the phone and on the web site) a Continental Express flight preparing for a landing gear-up emergency landing in Houston
My wife and I were on this plane. The pilots did a great job and I commend the crew for keeping the passengers informed and calm. There were many scared folks and they could have panicked. I have been on two other emergency landings so I knew what to expect. Flying around Houston for hours is nerve racking and this could have turned out much worse for all. So, Pilots, consider your passengers and not just whether this was a difficult landing or not. They are the ones who pay your salary!!!
OK, we all have 145 types so lets just be mature here. Sure any emergency is a dicey situation, but with good training and performance we should all be able to handle a situation like this. Nice job all around. You two need to grow up though. I should have know by the ERAU of your name there. :) You guys!
ok maybe i shouldnt have exploded like that...i just know the FO (who is now a CA) personally. They had to work it out damn hard to make sure the outcome was what it was...check out that awesome Private Pilot from flight aware though....im glad they got such a knowledgeable person on the aircraft!! lmao
Well, wadda ya know, I was looking at my certificate, and I have one on there that says EMB-145 as well. Weird, especially since I am misinformed. This is not a pissing match, just 2 pilots with their own opinions.
They did a great job, it just erks me that they treat this like a disaster waiting to happen. Yes, it is problematic, but gear problems very rarely turn out disasterous. These guys are very well trained and they did a great job.
Great Job Pilots!!
