Like all their previous matches, this one ended with a DQ victory by Hogan when Bob Orton interfered. After this match, Piper would start his Hollywood career which would eventually lead to the first of his many retirements in 1987.
the chair & ace wasn't even necessary. piper was kicking hulahemmoriod's ass the whole match. hahaha.

@postalmeter Hulk didn't name him Roddy Piper. Piper was wrestling under that name well before Hogan enetered wrestling. Piper was a star on the West Coast when Hogan was breaking in. Hogan frequently tells outrageous lies like that, thinking his fans are too stupid to know better.
And I disagree that you have to get along to have great matches. often, real grudges translate to great matches. Buzz Sawyer's feuds with Tommy Rich and Hacksaw Duggan come to mind.

@GiantPantherTX (cont) i'm sure you know where hogan was from 81-84, apart from japan..... the awa. matsuda trained him, but verne cultivated him & the eventual image that hulk chose, the sam image vince ran with. in 82', for example, while hogan was battling bockwinkle, the wwf had backlund, fuji & saito, the samoans, rocky johnson, andre, the list goes on... a couple guys named bruno & vincent sr. & jr. had alot to do with it.... jr had a vision & plan, great. just too showbiz-y for me.

actually, i don't mind mr. bollea that much, as piper put it, hogan could "carry the ball". i think hulk was at his best in japan as a heel...& i obviously know hiro matsuda, broke hulks ankle on purpose during their first session, if i know judo gene, i know hiro... introduced luger down in florida. as far as the wwf goes, i was watching when garea & martel were tag champs, hogan had nothing to do with that far superior era. not trying to top you, but these are facts as well.

@jdbankshot Yeah well you know who trained Hulk Hogan? Some guy named Hiro Matsuda who also knew judo AND amateur wrestling and also trained Paul Orndorff, Ron Simmons, The Great Muta & Steve Keirn (the current WWE head trainer). Ever heard of the World Wrestling Federation? Ever heard of Wrestlemania? Yeah Hulk Hogan built all that with his blood and sweat and doesn't get nearly enough credit for it from Hogan-bashing dickholes like you. Deal with those pure facts and try topping that.

@AMYuntold "fake" is completely the wrong term, as is "phony". you don't go see shakespeare in the park & call it fake, do you? if you go to the movies, is it fake? no, it's a REAL movie... or real MOVIE, just like a play. pro wrestling is the most physical, most athletic, most violent & most dangerous form of THEATRE!!! if you need to have that explained to you, you're pathetic, but that's already obvious from your "gayer" comment. gayer is not a word, & amateur wrestling is far from sexual.

@GiantPantherTX ya... ok, there, smarty..... piper=legit street kid, legit boxer, legit amateur wrestler, legit black belt (guess who trained him? some guy named bruce...), legit submission specialist trained by judo gene lebell....hogan=no amateur wrestling background, no nothing except charisma & muscles... all his best matches were in japan. everything i've just written is pure fact, deal with it.

Roddy Piper likes to brag that Hulk Hogan never beat him. He conveniently always leaves out the part that Cowboy Bob Orton always interfered in those matches causing Piper to be disqualified before Hulk Hogan could legitimately beat him. Yeah, that's NOT REALLY something to brag about Piper. A disqualification victory for Hogan is still a victory isn't it?
