Here's my attempt to play NMCC by Meshuggah. This was shot using a webcam in two takes, one for the main view and one for the foot cam. I used the TD-12 to trigger Superior Drummer 2.0. I tried to bring out the kick drum in the mix since it's the most interesting part of the track. After trying to learn this song, I realized my double pedal chops aren't where I'd like them to be. Even then, this song is fun as hell to play.

It's nowhere near perfect, but I hope you enjoy this cover. Feel free to leave some constructive criticism regarding technique, mixing, etc. I'm always looking to improve.

  • Awesome

  • @xpertdrumr I think Haake uses those ghost notes to keep track. Kinda like how some drummers tap their left foot on the hi-hat.

  • Great 1 !!! how did you record audio and video ??

  • hey just wondering a few things if you want to help me? :) So the second vers beat, like the third beat of the song if that make sense, what foot pattern is that exactly? And also like the third vers that also is played at the same time as the guitar solo, is that just 1 kick and then 5 kicks right after for like 6 times and then 1 and 6 kicks to start over agian, correct? :P

  • nice job man i like this

  • @allmetaliswelcome you got it. and from videos i've seen of haake playing live, it seems like he keeps it going through the whole song.

  • @xpertdrumr ok thanks man! my very last question, what are the ghost notes playing? just all the notes between the right hand except for the notes before and after the backbeat? and are they all through?

  • @allmetaliswelcome oooo ooo- -o-o -ooo (16th notes where "o" is the kick and "-" is a rest) hope this helps

  • @xpertdrumr the eighth bar of the intro. i can only find a transcription that has the fill that comes in the second time but the first time there is no fill, so what's the kick for that?

  • @allmetaliswelcome cool. let me know if you have any questions about the other parts.
