Laptop memory - How to upgrade RAM - HD video - Samsung NC 20 netbook

Anyone considering buying this netbook, Samsung N20, it's very good.

Tools needed: small screwdriver, I used one on a small Gerber multi-tool.

1. Earth your hands by touching something metal, a radiator or something.
2. Unplug power cable and clip out laptop battery.
3. Look at what screws need to be taken out so you can remove the cover to get to the RAM memory.
4. Un-screw the cover, and un-clip the RAM already installed by clipping back the 2 metal clips on each side. The RAM will flip up. Pull the RAM card out straight.
5. Get your new RAM and make sure you insert it the right way, so the notch is lined up. Push in slightly at angle firmly until you feel it click in. Then push the RAM down into the laptop, it will clip in place.
6. Put laptop cover back on, insert screws.

i have 4gbs of ram and its upgrade able to 8 now do i take out my card that has 4 on it or is there another slot for the other 4gs of ram my computer is a Hp dv5 1010us help please

Does an upgrade from 1GB to 2GB significantly improve performance? Also, does the brand of the memory make any difference?

i don't think the brand makes much difference, usually with laptops and pcs they put in the cheapest parts as possible. the brand i used in this was Kingston.

i notice this laptop is slightly faster at doing stuff with the extra RAM. if you can it's always worth upgrading. 1gb is a low amount nowadays.

Actually scratch that, I wasn't using a small enough screw driver, I was messing with a 00 and 0, but I had to use a -1.4mm flat head, which works great cause with a screww it gives you second shot if you strip it!

I was trying to take my panel off, and that screw will just not budge. I have taken apart 2 laptops and have opened up several laptops and put them back together.

Is there any special screwdriver that i should use?? I am working with the

cool... my lil kids droped my samsung r519 and it wouldnt even load windows or repair so i used diff hard drive from an on vista one but when i toke out the ram i noticed theres another slot.. looked in the old lap and the rams the same its ddr2. can i put this ram into my new top so it has two rams..eney help would be cool bro.

I think you have to slots of 2gbs (which are cheaper) If you wanna upgrade your ram i think you have to buy 2 pieces of 4gbs ram
