  • Wow..Curacoa! I didn't even hear of this palce much..Looking at the sidebar [more info] helped when I saw the tags. Pontoon bridges are fun, and also not so fun [the first major one, Lacey V.Murrow bridge in Seattle sunk in 1990, after all].

  • Thanks for the comments, Steve.

The bridge is very well constructed-the dutch do these things well, of course. The town is very colonial and worth a visit if you ever get to cruising the West Indies.

  • is this from 1st of feb 08 cruise wentover that bridge was high

  • Yes, it was the 1st February.

  • That is so sad, I'm sorry.

  • I feel nostalgic, so beautiful moments in that place with a long lost wonderful person!

  • Oh dear, I hope it doesn't make you feel too sad. Willenstad is such a lovely city, very picturesque.

  • Anyway, the Hood Canal [150 miles or so up Washington State] has the LONGEST draw span of ANY type-600. That's the advantage of being supported on the water for you, and that is not sarcasm. Only uh, draback [pardon!] is span sill has to be completely open. Those are retractable. plus some other disadvantgaes But the one here, is a swing span, which has its own similiar problems. But there are the undisputable advantages [any drawbridges opening is magic, frankly].

  • I know, I dream about this place and the person I met there, but after 3 years for things out of my control, I lost contact. Then after 1 month of getting married, he sent me a letter from Holland, but it was too late. I may say "I cried a river." Now I am single and still dream about him the same dream every time. Strange eh?
