@geoffmobile The reason health care is so expensive, is because it is government has a monopoly on it. Without it the government, the free market would take over. Hospitals would be driven by entrepreneurs who would want to make a profit and in order to do so provide the best care for less. But this is an irrelevant in the argument of taxes or no taxes. The only argument that's important is that taxes are immoral because they are theft. If theft is right, why shouldn't everyone steal?

True. And I guess with less student loan debt they may be more able to afford staying in Vancouver. :)

When I started school it was $700 for my first semester, and I took 15 credits (this was at SFU). When I went back to take undergrad courses in 2006 it was something like $2000 for one semester of 9 credits of CS courses. :O
Geoff, let me tell you what the problem in the world is. Using force against innocent people to get what you want. Have you ever wondered, where the money that the government needs to pay for stuff, comes from? Let me tell you it's taken from people by force at gunpoint! Taxes are theft. Stealing from your neighbours using the power of the government will not make BC a better place. I understand this may be a new concept to you, but until you realise what you said is false, I will not subscribe.

@jcrongoXisXaXjerk Canadians have a fairly decent health care system, which is funded through taxes. if we didn't have taxes we'd have to go bankrupt if we ever got sick, to afford doctors and hospitals. Of course Governments are not always very efficient in using tax money for the right things, but I believe taxes are necessary for a safe society.

Do you think lowering tuition particularly for CS courses would help improve the tech sector in BC Geoff?

@bukephalas yes I think so. because then I think the grads would have to be more interested in the subject and passionate about CS rather than simply able to afford it.
