The Boker SubCom series is a high-quality series from designer Chad Los Banos.

Although small, this particular model displays many desirable features which would make it a great Every Day Carry knife:
- 1 7/8" (4.76 cm) Aus-8 Stainless Steel Blade
- Wharncliffe style blade is excellent for razor-blade style cuts and is quick/easy to sharpen
- Finely textured fiber reinforced nylon handle on one side with smooth stainless steel opposite side
- Excellent jimping along the spine of the blade for controlled, pressure cuts
- Frame-Lock design for easy opening/closing
- Deep choil behind the blade allows hand to lock in tight around handle and prevents the hand from EVER being cut while using this knife
- MSRP $39.95 but available for around $25-30 online

However there are a few small details that keep this from being the perfect carry knife:
- Pocket clip is too tight and needs to be removed and adjusted before use
- Aggressive jimping along bottom handle is superflous and will wear on pocket
- At 2.5 ounces (70.87 grams) this knife is a bit heavy for it's size and is comparable in weight to larger knives with more cutting ability

Despite the above shortcomings, the Boker SubCom is an excellent knife capable of constant, heavy duty use. When considering the ingenuity of the design, you would be hard pressed to find a safer knife to use in the field.

  • nice review man

  • They also have a Hawkbill blade shape

  • This is not a liner lock, but a Reeve integral lock, commonly referred to as a frame lock.

  • i own one of these but its not a straight edge its the normal curved blade and i absolutely love it great knife, easy to carry around and i carry it with me every day

  • just got a Wharcom i like it alot im not used to carrying such a small knife for the last year ive EDCing the ti lite 6 so quite the down size i dont really like the thumb studs but i clip it to my right front pocket and if i draw it at a rearward angle the fine jimping will snag my pocket and pop open like my ti lite so i like that i think the jimping on the back may be for if you hold it with your index finger on the back of the blade like a scaple but i dont know for sure that just my guess
