  • Haha, when I went to see them someone stood up before this song and said 'Hey, I used to live in Yeovil!' in mock defence of the town and Steve Knightley just said 'Well you don't live there anymore!' or something along those lines. It was hilarious!

  • Crackin' song

  • from a 2001 album, placing the gig about ten years before in the early 90's when Show of Hands were just starting out. leads me to believe the late night chippy in the one way street was Top Tucker in Clarence Street, near to the big Tesco. Top Tucker is long gone, as are the nightclubs in that part of town. the nightlife moved to the other end of Yeovil several years ago. it's a nice song, but Yeovil is okay. makes me feel tough if i think Yeovil is okay, but i'm not tough at all.

  • @officercruddle You made me lol. :D

  • Hi,

I'm from Yeovil originally and this song has only just come to my attention this evening.

On behalf of the entire population of the town I'd like to apologise to the members of Show of Hands for the sheer brutality they witnessed and offer to reimburse them for the chips that they didn't get to eat.

I too play in a band that could be described as 'folk' and am all too experienced in the loss of chips-due-to-chav-with-rock potential confrontation that can happen in that part of town.

  • I like living in Yeovil :).

  • @Thisbloodypave The song? I think I'm missing a reference here =P.

  • @Emmie3303 ' Its all your fault ' emmie

  • i used to live in Maiden Newton, (i probably misspelt it) near Yovil (i don't care if i misspelt that) and we used to shop in Yovil, i know what he's talking about

  • i live in yeovil, we sadly do have a lot of idiots living here, but i like it here lol.

  • they seem to have yeovil to a T! horrid little place, rip off britain central. cctv every where!

  • born in yeovil in '85 then i left in 2006....and never looked back. it's a very isolated little town and there is a lot of hostility. my uncle lived in union street in plymouth for short time which is known for its condemned buildings and drunken violence and he told me he felt safer living there than he ever did walking through yeovil at night.

even the 'alternative kids' were hostile....still at least it ain't martock! lol
