A few years ago the "Poor Poets", Nat Clare and Paul Blackburn, were asked to do a performance poem for a new UK TV program called "The Word". This was before it started and they told us it was going to be the new "Tube" - honest. Anyway we were asked to write a poem about Manchester - which was "THE" place in the UK at that time. Everyone wanted to come from Manchester (Mad-Chester), the "Stone Roses" were the "Big" band at the time, the "Hacienda" was the club to be seen at and it was owned by a local TV celebrity "Tony Wilson" - A film called "24 hour party people" was made recently about that period in history. So here is a clip from the TV programme which gives you a bit of an idea of what our stage act was like - "My Friend Comes from Manchester" is the video of the poem with Nat saying the words and Paul doing the silly things.
I Love the handsome guy in the shades - he's well fit. Not so sure about his dad in the background though...
