The now defunct Caribbean Sextet was, perhaps, the best group of musicians to have ever grace the kompa idiom . Under the direction of maestro Reginald Policard, this group was the "creme de la creme" of Haitian popular music at its pick. The music is high art, the musicians are world class; the result is a blend of infectious grooves met by virtuosity and well crafted kompa sinfoniettas. I dare anyone to listen to this music, and not give Reginald Policard his proper station in the universe as a great fusion master.

  • THE MUSIC REFLECTED A CERTAIN SECTOR OF THE SOCIETY . FOR THAT SECTOR ONE COULD SAY IT WAS GREAT MUSIC. VOCALLY I THINK THAT HE WAS IN A CLASS BY HIMSELF, but in a nation where over 90% of the country was listening to other things, CS cannot represent Haitian music except possibly the music of the elite. i disagree with the pwofese. CS represented a very tiny minority, which is now probably sitting in long island and boca raton hahahaha

  • MERINGUE-COMPAS: HATIAN MUSIC

  • @Pwofese I disagree. They were perfect for their period. The late 60's through the mid 80's was the golden era of music. Musicians from all over the world were putting out some extraordinary material. By saying they were advanced, that means their music was on par with what's currently being offered. Most will agree that the mediocrity that's currently out there, don't hold a candle to what they were doing back then.
