Time will tell what will ultimately happen. Because often times a law or a policy often applies where it was not intended years after it was enacted. For example, the so-called war on terror in the beginning seem was as if it was targeting terrorist, is now directed towards Americans and things that have nothing to do with terrorist.
The bottom-line is, trust nothing that comes from the government.......those in it have a habit of lying and using clever sounding words to mislead people.

Oregon has a law that lets people choose to refuse care or even get pills to end there life if they are placed on hospice. The state does not make you take pills or make you choose to end treatment. I was a home health aid for a person in Oregon and I saw the paper work. Amongst the choices my client could make were long term use of feeding tubes and other care wile in a vegetative state. She decided for herself she wanted to pass at home. It was all up to her till the end.

I think what's important to remember is that all of this is voluntary, so if your grandma doesn't want end of life counseling then she can simply tell her doctor to stfu and that should solve the problem. It's not like the gov. is rounding up old people in carts every 5 years for their "how to kill yourself" lesson, lol.

It's not about "death panels" or "euthanasia." It's about rationing, which will occur.

My father is 83, he is a farmer, STILL farms. I can not imagine him being hauled in every 5 years to talk about his end of life. If someone doesn't want to live any more & chooses to end their life THAT should be their decision. I don't want a series of questions put to them as though they are a financial burden on the country or their families. In your condition is life worth living? Keep framing it around hospice YET where is the list of questions that are required? PRINT THEM!!!!!

We can solve this problem by having the President tell Americans WHO he is going to appointed on that advisory benefit committee. Are Americans suppose to wait until the bill is passed to find out? READ the bill!
Is your primary care doctor going to give you your end of life session every 5 years or is it another set doctors? What does that interview involve? Hospice & decisions of not to prolong life artificially? What are they asked to think about in their life? READ the bill!

I don't trust anyone in Gov't they all fucking lie and flip flop. Obama's reform will do more harm than good, there will be about 300 million Americans who need med benefits with no additional doctors, we will die as we wait. Is reform needed, yes, but not this.
I want to see a ONE PAGE bill with bullet points, not a 1,018 page bill filled with bureaucratic bullshit!!!!

did you even listen to what she's saying? It's "end of life consultation" they'll pay for you to talk to a doctor about your options, they're not going to force you to kill yourself. Get some perspective- as a UK citizen I've grown up with the NHS, there's nothing sinister about it, all it is the RIGHT to LIFE that all humans deserve, being supported by a government YOU pay your taxes to. This is a good thing- it saddens me that Americans seem to be throwing away a gift without understanding it.
