they cant just "switch connections and make it an rc" as you said. the plane is quite different. its heavier and doesnt have the moving parts the servos hook up to.

The plane is called a Firebaby II designed by Frank Macy. As for the engine, it needs to have the fuel pick-up put back in the middle of the tank.

For me, It is because you are ' attached' to the model.You can 'feel it' down the wires.
Been flying RC for some 35 years, but I still love to fly Control Line, especially Stunt and Combat models.
