  • If you could only take one with you Char rope or cloth, which would you choose?

  • Hard to say really....I guess it would be char rope. It holds together better than char cloth, and seems to have a better ember when the hole piece is glowing. Of coarse I think it is mostly a matter of opinion.

  • I hope you picked up that metal piece you tore off the lighter. Remember - leave nothing but footprints.

  • hahaha Yeah I grabbed it.

  • have you ever used a tinder tube, I picked one up at a mountain man gathering here in Ut. really like it as it makes its own char rope as you use it

    Your videos rock man!

  • i like this dude i just discovered him. he doesnt ramble like most suvivalist

  • ca you use hemp or jute rope

  • Char rope is great stuff. I've been experimenting with it, using it in a fire piston I built, starting fires and such. What I'd like to share with you is the best material I've found to make char rope is-- a mop head. You can buy them at Lowe's for about 5 bucks. They're made of 1/8 inch, 100% cotton ropes. Just cut some strands off and char them like you normally would. Unbelievably effiecient.

  • Nice, thanks for sharing. I think I have watched them all now... Loved em, thanks for the information!
