  • Im here now, and worked on em up until May 1st....IQAF has full responsibility of them now. USAF no longer operates any of them. In addition, they only fly a few of the MI's as well. OH, 205 (hard landing) and 215 (destroyed by indirect fire) will never see the air again....unfortunately, this is gonna be the end for em all before long due to maintenance practices and other constant threat. So much history down the tubes

  • @uh60flyguy Was 205 the one that got banged up when I was there (April 08- April 09)? It is pretty sad to see all that work essentially go to waste but that's how they want it. I just wish at times I could have that year back to do other things instead of wasting it away over there. Thanks for serving brother.

  • @Wardog687 You got it buddy. I am lucky enough to be flying the UH-1N still! I hope it sticks around for years.

  • @Wardog687 Some were HPs and others were Vs. Can't remember how many of each though. They were modded in 2006 I believe after being flown by the Jordan Air Force. They are owned and operated by the Iraqi Army now. When I was there, they fell under the Iraqi Air Force but that has changed. USAF also flew them but only as advisors, and continue to do so on a limited basis.

  • @Wardog687 The Huey II's received the N model blades and tail section. They also got a more powerful engine and stronger transmission. The output of the Huey II engine has similar power to the twin engined N model.
