THANK YOU!! I went to the Apple store with the exact same symptoms and they said I would be charged $1600 for a whole new logic board! I have the same model and everything so I should be able to get it fixed free then

THANKS A MILLION FOR THIS!

So I have this exact issue, and I took it in to an apple certified service place. They did the Graphics Processor Test, and it "passed", so they said my computer wasn't covered under the recall and it'll cost me over $1000 to replace. I guess I'll actually call apple and see if there is anything I can do. The computer is 3 1/2 years old... I was hoping that such an expensive piece of hardware would last longer than that.

@TrentStudios damn man that sounds really bad, howlong u had ur mac?

if my macbook pro brokedown within a year i would ring up apple an tell them to replace it straight away, not repair. same as i do with my ps3 , ive had 6 ps3's so far an they replace for free, but tried charging me 130 to replace, so i hung up an tried again an spoke to a new person an they sed they would send 1 out tomorrow :)

Just happened to my Mac book pro black screen. Sent it to be fixed hope i don't have to pay for the Nvidia chip. Its 3 years old which is nothing really.

@moewahba35 Yes, it will die again, my 1.5 year macbook pro had already 4 logic board replacements because of this failure :(

My wife and I bought two MacBook Pro (13 & 15-inch) macs in the past two years. They both failed with the logic board issue. And the replacement would cost us a fortune. I bought those fancy but not long-lasting MBP for regret. We had owned PC (HP, Dell and Sony) laptops before, they are all last more than 5 years still in use. Then we started to using Mac. We were happy to own the good-looking, light-weight, fast-bootup macs at first, but are very disappointed with their longevity after use.
Since apples offered to repair the damaged macbook pros for free, have you got yours repaired? did it take long? cause im in the same terrible situation :/... please reply

Mine is being repaired for free, and I have to wait more 2 weeks. I think it will be ok.
