The future of manufacturing in Baltimore (and the US) isn't in large, automated plants. Instead, it lies in independent designers, crafters, and makers, who design and create products from their homes and small studios that are sold online and in shops around the world. Led by groups like the Charm City Craft Mafia and the Baltimore Etsy Street Team, this new wave of entrepreneurs have the potential for big economic impact. In my presentation, I'll look at how craft businesses can contribute to the local economy, and how the local community can do more to help support these businesses.
