The master Dong Hai-Chuan of the Ching Dynasty, who lived from 1798 to 1879, developed the art of Ba Gua Zhang. He was an imperial bodygaurd in the waning years of the last imperial dynasty. This information is from the book, "Ba Gua; Hidden Knowledge in the Taoist Internal Martial Art" by John Bracy and Liu Xing-Han.

OMT Oh My Tao. This Master is amazing. Fast hands, great maneuvering.

@wudanggongfu I heard he invented Bagua from taoist circle walking meditation and various kungfu techniques he'd learned in previous training. He must have had a strong root in taiji and chikung as well.

haven't been there, but i am very familiar with energy places on the planet, I get yr point.
that's why I made mine, cause the chinese govt gets it too, and they'd be very happy for you to think that the guy they hired to run the place just did it cause of his spirit or something, instead of the reality that those monks are Very Tightly Controlled, which is like, totally not taoist approach....

interesting vid, but I don't understand why the wudang folks are trying to claim all this "old" bagua stuff. this form has obvious pieces of hsing-i, which is common in cheng ting hua styles, but not in the founder's (dong hai chuan) bagua. I wonder how much influence the chinese government has on the modern wudang school???
