A solid front line consists of Viktor, Pesmerga, and Georg (Viktor can be replaced with Humphrey or Flik), while putting Riou (the hero's canon name), Nanami(or Luc or another magically-inclined character with a Water rune as your healer), and (I personally use) Clive in the back row, though any mid/long-range with a solid mix of magic ability and attack power will do to act as your sixth.

i prefer to use sierra, pesmerga, oulan,luc, camus and the main character of course..hero

George and Pesmerga are the best character in suikoden 2, I use them almost everytime when i gets them. Otherwise, i resort to use humprey, flik and viktor.

The war system suck in suikoden 2... Its like only the imbal stood a chance.
