This is a most unusual flute, in deep mellow harmonic tones.
I call this flute the side blown Oriental Flute. Found at
http://www.eriktheflutemaker.com/Oriental_good.htm
choose side blown in flute style.
Feel free to email me at info@eriktheflutemaker.com
Erik

History:
In Japan an end blown model of this flute was played by former Samurai who could no longer carry their swords by government decree. So they made the flute out of the root stock and now could use it for protection too.

  • I wonder what he meant at 1:55-1:56 as I checked his website and he wants a bit more for his flute which seems to be false advertising.

  • @Xlander1000 Hi there, this video was made in 2007, hence the prices have gone up since then. Erik does sell a bunch of his flutes at a much discounted price on his website under "WHAT"S NEW" and check out the Cascabel flutes. Hope that helps.

  • anyone else think that when he played the scale it sounded like titantic...

  • What creates the vibrato in the sound?? Thanks!

  • i dont like u mr man

  • @alxk78 well the more inexpensive one is labelled the sakuhachi 21 tuning... What does this one not have compared to the concert key one? And also, why is it called concert D? I thought the universal concert key tuning key is C....

  • @XraineX if you want to play the flute with music or live you have to order the concert D one, its more expensive but its standard 440 tuning. I'm not sure what you mean by the 21 tuning, I didn't order the concert d and it came in D# . hope that helps.

  • what is the difference between concert d and the 21 tuning one??

  • I purchased this flute and let me tell you it sounds incredible, it took me 5 hours to find the sweet spot now I'm hooked. The only thing, is that its tuned to D# not D most . If you are going to order this specify the exact tuning you want.

  • I love these videos Erik maks. When Im down, tired or frustrated i just sit back and watch his videos and feel such a peace flow over me. Erik, you bless people in ways that are so helpful and I thank God for you and pray your life is also filled with years of peace and happiness. :)
