Damn -- he could always play like crazy -- but he has grown a lot too (Keith). He wouldn't play this kind of solo today, would he? He can still play as fast as anyone would ever want, but he seems completely unhurried when he does it --- he finds his time, owns the groove -- here he is sort of playing on top of the music rather than inside it. But you could never accuse him of that today. Genius.
Jack and Keith were the catalysts of this band and it shows here. That's why they're still playing together with Gary Peacock. Keith is burning on this waltz.
I love these early clips of Keith, playing these compositions. Truly wonderful.
